The project title is "The Representational Urban Realm". It is an atempt to point out some flaws in the competition program. Herning asks the participators to create a masterplan to strenghten the identity in the center of Herning, an yet the program is divided into three main categories, in which the individual architect is free to design wathever space they might want to. This will create a very varied range of urban spaces. And it will not change the fact that there is a lack of identity in the city center of Herning.
In MUD's proposal, creating a strong identity, is the main focus. By scanning the very dispersed city of Herning, for its qualities, and secondly projecting them on to the city center, the new center becomes a representational urban realm for Herning, where the town people and visitors will get a better sensation of what kind of city Herning really is.
